GIU Hosts Symposium on Advancements and Career Pathways in Radiography
The Department of Radiology at GIU successfully hosted an insightful and engaging symposium dedicated to exploring the latest advancements in radiology, imaging sciences, and regenerative medicine. The event brought together distinguished experts, faculty, and students to deepen academic understanding, inspire career growth, and highlight the expanding role of radiology in modern healthcare.
The symposium opened with a compelling session by Dr. Raham Bacha on “Ultrasound in Modern Radiology.” He emphasized ultrasound’s critical role in diagnostic imaging and shed light on recent technological innovations that are shaping clinical practice today.
Adding a creative and educational dimension to the symposium, GIU students presented a short theatrical performance focusing on the importance of timely antenatal ultrasounds to safeguard maternal and infant health—an impactful demonstration of how preventive radiology can save lives. Students also showcased research-based posters that reflected their growing knowledge and interest in emerging imaging techniques.
The academic discussions continued with Dr. Khalid Idrees, who delivered an insightful talk on “Career Counselling in Radiography and Imaging.” He highlighted the expanding professional landscape, essential skill sets, and pathways for success in the rapidly evolving field of medical imaging.
In the concluding keynote, Dr. Zaheer Anjum presented “The Role of Radiology in Regenerative Medicine,” illustrating how imaging technologies are driving breakthroughs in tissue engineering and personalized healthcare solutions.
The event was graced by Pro Rector Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan, who attended as Chief Guest and presented shields to all keynote speakers in recognition of their valuable contributions. Adding a celebratory touch, Dr. Syed Yousaf Gilani, Head of the Department, led a cake-cutting ceremony alongside faculty members and students, commemorating the department’s ongoing dedication to excellence.
An interactive Q&A session encouraged active participation and thoughtful dialogue among students. In their closing remarks, departmental leaders expressed appreciation for the efforts of the speakers, organizers, and participants.
The symposium concluded with a group photograph—capturing a proud moment in GIU’s continuous pursuit of academic distinction and professional advancement in radiological sciences.
